You’ll be picked up from your Dubai hotel in the morning and taken to the grounds of a local royal family members desert retreat for your interactive falconry experience.
During the demonstration, you’ll learn all about the ancient practice of falconry, in which trained falcons are used to hunt prey such as hares and various types of birds. This centuries-old hunting tradition is an integral part of desert life and an important part of Arab heritage and culture. In fact, The UAE reportedly spends more than 27 million dollars each year towards the protection and conservation of wild falcons!
Your guide will go over both ancient and modern training techniques, and explain the history of falconry, which was originally used to supplement the Bedouin diet with meat (Bedouin refers to the Arab nomadic tribes of the Arabian, Syrian, Nubian, and Sahara deserts). You’ll then get to observe the world’s best-trained falcons and even try your hand at swinging the lure or flying a falcon yourself!
After your falconry experience, take a guided tour of the Dubai Desert Conversation Reserve, the most carefully preserved wildlife area in the UAE and Dubai’s first national park. Travel through this vast wildlife reserve in the comfort of a luxury Range Rover or your open-roof vintage Land Rover, keeping an eye out for animals such as Orxy, Gazelles and many other native desert flora and fauna.

When you return to the camp, enjoy a freshly prepared local snack such as chabab (Arabic pancakes) or Ragaag (Fresh Arabic bread). If you wish, you can also ride a camel through the desert! Afterwards, you’ll be taken back to your Dubai hotel, located about an hour away.
A portion of ticket sales goes towards local animal conversation, so you can feel extra good about participating in this Dubai wildlife experience.

We had a good time - punctual pick up from hotel, good explanation and friendly guide. Enjoyed the falconry and the camel ride, the trainer looked after us and made us feel very safe, thank you. Unfortunately did not get too see a lot of animals on the safari part of the tour. Provided meal was very simple, but definitely acceptable. Will definitely recommend

Was a little dubious about this being a cliché tour of the desert, however was very pleasantly surprised by quality of the services and experience that we had. The communication about the pick up times was a little dubious, but that was the only negative thing. That said, in the end we got picked up and dropped off on time at our hard to find hotel. The camel ride was short, and although we were offered another ride around the palm trees, it was enough. We enjoyed our tour guide's relaxed, but informative commentary, the desert experience, and seeing the animals in the wild. Being able to hold a falcon and barn owl was the highlight.

Overall very well organized, worth the extra cost compared to other organisations.
Nice friendly staff.
Falconry demo done by a real professional, 3 different bird species, lots of explanation.
Short camel riding and longer Land Rover tour in beautiful desertic area.
Breakfast with typical local products.
Limited commercial pressure (only one proposal to buy pictures).

I was looking for adventures to have while my husband was working in Dubai. I wanted to see the desert but did not want a dune bashing experience, and I especially wanted to see the Desert Conservation area. This trip was perfect. I had all the fun of being a tourist with an Arabian head dress and photo by an old Land Rover with the active learning experience of handling two owls, a hawk, and a falcon. The extremely knowledgeable bird handler told me more about the birds in that hour than any of the wonderful Ranger hikes I have done in the U.S. It was a thrill to have the birds fly to our gloved hands and to be that close to them. I also enjoyed the experience of getting on a sitting camel and having the camel rise up, go for a little walk, and then to feel the clunk and jerk of the camel's natural movement as he sat back on the ground for me to dismount--really not for a person with a bad back because of that last jolt but otherwise easier than I thought it would be. We were off in a Bedouin camp setting that lent itself to fantasy, and I got some great photos of the camel handler and camels off on the dunes. Since there were 5 in the group and only 4 could go with one driver, I got my very own guide and driver who gave me many facts and insights into Dubai, its people, and animal and Bedouin life as he drove me out and back, gave me a personal tour out to the oryx and gazelles, and explained the Bedouin uses of the plants. I would highly recommend this experience if you want some fun but also are serious about learning about life on the desert.
